Lyana Grace Chan
Lyana Grace Chan joins the Unit Chambers team on a reduced six month pupillage. One of the most likeable solicitors in the North West she is a key addition to the Unit Chambers team and brings a wide range of experience and expertise in all aspects of family law. In addition, Lyana has spent a considerable amount of her practice working on civil litigation as well as adult and mental health.
Lyana graduated with an LLB from Staffordshire University in 1998 and was admitted as a solicitor in 2006 after working as a paralegal and trainee solicitor in North Wales. She passed her Bar Transfer Test in 2016 and was called to the Bar earlier this year as a member of Gray’s Inn. She has an in-depth and dynamic knowledge of the workings of local authority children’s services having worked as part of the child protection and adult social services team of Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council for the past 14 years.
Outside of work Lyana loves spending time with her family, especially her two young children, as well as horse riding, keeping fit and baking.
Amjad Kadhim joins the Unit Chambers team on a twelve month pupillage. Amjad is a familiar and friendly face across the Liverpool family law scene as previous family court clerk and paralegal at MSB Solicitors. He has recently undertaken advocacy on behalf of fee earners in several hearings in the Family Court which include non-molestation applications and return hearings.
Amjad graduated with an LLB from Newcastle University in 2017 and in addition passed his Bar Professional Training Course from Northumbria University in 2018. He was founder and President of the Newcastle University Bar Society and was also an Ambassador for the Street Law Pro Bono Programme.
Outside of work, Amjad has a keen interest in fitness and trains in different martial arts. He is also a keen writer of screenplays in both film and television.
Natasha Khalique joins the Unit Chambers team on a twelve month pupillage. Natasha has been a County Court Advocate with LPC Law for the past 2 years and is now a veteran of over 845 hearings across the Northern Circuit. Prior to that she was a fee earning Paralegal at Stewarts LLP in London. Natasha is passionate about family law especially child related matters. She enjoys appearing before District Judges representing claimants and defendants in hearings as well as liaising with solicitors.
Natasha graduated in Biology (BSc) from Queen Mary University of London in 2012. She continued with her Masters studies achieving a Distinction in Cardiovascular Science from University College London with a thesis focusing on Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Institute of Child Health. Additionally, Natasha passed her Bar Professional Training Course and Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP School of Law in 2016. She is a committee member of the Middle Temple Young Barristers Association for the Northern Circuit and is a regular volunteer at Refugee Action in Manchester.
Outside of work, Natasha has a keen interest in fitness and is currently qualifying as a personal trainer. She recently completed her first triathlon and also enjoys tennis, running and rowing.
Isabel Hawkins will be joining the team on a twelve-month pupillage. One of the most likeable legal clerks in the North West, Isabel will be a key addition to the Unit Chambers team and brings a wide range of experience and expertise in all aspects of family law. Isabel is currently a legal clerk at Berkson Family Law Solicitors whilst at the same time completing her Bar professional course at the University of Law. Prior to this, she was a paralegal at BDH solicitors for two years. Isabel will join Unit Chambers on October 4th 2021.
Isabel graduated with a BA in History and Politics from the University of York in 2016 and then went on to complete her LLM law qualification at Liverpool John Moores University in 2018. She was also awarded the Queen Mother’s Scholarship by the Middle Temple.
Outside of work, Isabel loves drama, music and dance and has performed in a number of plays and musicals. She is classically trained in piano and flute and amongst other things, has been a member of an all-girl rock band as well as a backing dancer for music artist, Basshunter. Isabel also has a keen interest in fashion.
Joshua Brindle will be joining the Unit Chambers team on a twelve-month pupillage. Joshua is a familiar and friendly face across the Liverpool family law scene and is currently a legal clerk at Berkson Family Law Solicitors having previously worked in a similar role at Morecrofts LLP. He will join Unit Chambers on October 4th 2021.
Joshua graduated with a first class degree in Law LLB from Liverpool John Moores University in 2018 and is just about to complete his LLM legal practice (Bar) at BPP, Manchester. He was awarded the Peta Fordham Scholarship, an Exhibition Award and the Duke of Edinburgh Entrance Award by Inner Temple in 2020. He was also awarded a BTC Excellence Award from BBP in 2020 and is also a student advisor for the BPP Legal Advice Centre.
Outside of work, Joshua enjoys making his own clothes, ice skating as well as baking, painting and travelling. He is also a keen writer.
